2005 Wolverines Minor Peewee AA - Give Back Day
The Minor Peewee AA team spent this evening at the Mississauga Food Bank, which is the central food bank in Mississauga. The facility provides enough food to make 183,000 meals a month through donations and their new initiative, AquaGrow Farms. This aquaponic farm (raising edible, aquatic animals and cultivating plants in water in a symbiotic environment), will produce 645 servings of fish and 10,000 servings of greens every year.
These great kids spent 2.5 hours tonight on their feet opening up bags and packages of food, checking their expiration dates, sorting them into a multitude of of categories, and then packaging them up into boxes for distribution. They finished the evening by sweeping the facility to clean up any garbage left behind. I received many compliments from the staff and the other volunteers about how polite the kids were and how well they listened. They all worked really hard, worked together, had fun, and represented the Association well.
